Argonne National Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is best known as a scientific and technological powerhouse, with 3,523 full-time employees and a budget over a billion dollars. Argonne’s economic impact occurs over a very long period and is extremely difficult to quantify. Argonne hired IAMECON to capture its economic, scientific, technological, and societal impacts. From research to patents and publication, from budget spending to jobs and financial impact, and from laboratory work to innovation in the industry Argonne has significantly contributed to nationwide scientific innovation. After winning a federal research grant with the Small Business Administration, IAMECON collected over 1 Million Yelp and Google Reviews, and developed a fully customized machine learning algorithm to answer the policy question: what effect does occupational licensing have on consumer outcomes? Our findings indicated that Yelp and Google Reviews are not significantly better in states with higher regulations.


In partnership with Professor Jason Abrevaya and Professor Junfeng Jiao of UT-Austin, IAMECON won a grant from the University of Texas' IC2 Institute. As part of the study, IAMECON will create a first of its kind rural-entrepreneurial ecosystem score using job-website data from LinkedIN and Indeed. This analysis will use nowcasting to help rural policy-makers prioritize scarce resources.


A large non-profit sought IAMECON's services to better understand the US factory farming supply chain. Our team located, collected, and merged diverse data sets into a comprehensive directory of over one hundred thousand entries, visualized it in Tableau Maps, and conducted statistical analyses that enabled our client to better understand the industry dynamics and reach their audience in a more efficient way.
